Shalom! And a hearty welcome to the Spanish and Portuguese Synagogue, Holland Park
We are one of the oldest synagogues in London and surprisingly still one of the capital’s best kept secrets.
Holland Park Synagogue was founded in the early 1900s by West London’s Sephardi immigrant community, originating from Istanbul and Salonika. Over the years, we have attracted new members from countries including Gibraltar, Egypt, Persia, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Bahrain, Israel and, most recently, France. They have found a welcome place with us and become a key part of our Holland Park ‘family’.
Since opening in 1928, Holland Park Synagogue has maintained its own independence as a unique and spiritual place of worship, enhanced by its elegant and traditional architecture, its own liturgy, and traditions that are not found anywhere else in London. It is a beautiful place to celebrate being Jewish.
Prayer and worship
We offer a range of worship styles, from the small and intimate to grander, more formal, classical services incorporating our unique traditions. Holland Park provides a truly awe-inspiring space in which to practise Jewish ritual life.
Learning
Our educational programmes are first class. Our goal is to provide for a lifetime of Jewish learning which includes:
- Keren’s Nursery for pre-schoolers
- Talmud Torah class for 4- to 6- year-olds
- Cheder classes for children
- Barmitzvah and Batmitzvah programmes
-
Talks, book launches and regular shiurim.
We also host a sizeable library from where our members may borrow books at no charge (by arrangement only).
Now, as always, Holland Park Synagogue is your home.
